LED BLACKLIGHT TIPS
ULTRAVIOLET LEDs ARE NOT ALL THE SAME! Materials used in construction determine UV output and life. Beware of blacklights using 10 or more UV LEDs. These are lower power LEDs that are usually made with materials that deteriorate from UV light and will begin to dim after 200 hours. Many use cheap, blue colored, higher wavelength UV LEDs that appear brighter but have less UV power. Current control is critical to LEDs. Poorly designed lights use resistors to limit voltage to the LED. This type of current control is ineffective due to variations in LED and battery voltage. LEDs with lower voltage drop will draw too much current and burn out. This is why LEDs burn out in strip lights that have poor current control and heat dissipation. This cannot happen with current control circuitry used in our lights.
Pulse Width Modulation maintains precise current over wide supply voltage range. PWM is the most efficient LED driver.
Our light housings were specifically designed for use with high power LEDs to provide excellent heat dissipation.
When comparing UV power, only look at fluorescent objects the light is illuminating and not at the light or background. UV light is invisible so don't be tricked by 'bright looking' lights.
SERVICE & WARRANTY
MOONliteUSA products have a 1 year limited warranty against functional defects. Physical damage, storing with salty lures, or excess voltage voids warranty. Email or call for assistance.
COLOR FACTS
Human eyes see green better than any color. Red has the least adverse effect on night vision. Green provides the best viewing in low light. All colors attract insects but some more than others. Ultraviolet and blue attract most. White and green are in mid range while amber and red attract fewest. Brighter lights of any color will attract insects from a greater distance.
